Protect Your Facility from Product Tampering
In response to recent events, the following information is being provided to help you assess your facility's
vulnerability to tampering. Taking appropriate actions to secure your facility to prevent product tampering and
other interference is an important step in protecting your business and the public from intentional
contamination. As noted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, some degree of risk is a fundamental reality.
The goal is the best food and water safety and security at the least cost, not at any cost.

A guidance document has been developed by the FDA as an aid to operators of food service establishments in
implementing preventive measures. "Food Producers, Processors, Transporters, and Retailers: Food Security
Preventive Measures Guidance" is divided into seven sections which relate to the individual components of a food
service establishment. An additional Guidance for Industry Importers and Filers may be found at "Food Security
Preventive Measures Guidance".
If you observe suspicious activity or notice that someone has tampered with your product(s), call your local
law enforcement officials or the State Troopers immediately.
